Coimbatore: 2 men arrested for raping minor girls

COIMBATORE: The district rural police on Wednesday arrested two men for sexually assaulting two minor girls in separate incidents. The Pollachi all-woman police arrested V Aravindan, 23, on charges of raping a Class 12 girl student, a resident of Negamam in Pollachi, on July 6.
Police said the 17-year-old girl befriended Aravindan, of Tirupathur, through social media. Aravindan kidnapped the minor girl on July 6 and took her to his hometown, where he married her in a temple the next day. He raped her repeatedly before the victim’s parents traced her. Police arrested Aravindan and registered a case against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
In another incident, the Thudiyalur all-woman police arrested K Natarajan,73, a private security guard from Jothipuram near Periyanaickenpalayam, on charges of molesting a 17-year-old girl at a marriage hall on July 19. The minor girl was on her way to her relative’s house on Wednesday evening. Due to heavy rain, she took shelter for a while at the marriage hall where the private security guard molested her. Police registered a case under Pocso Act against Natarajan and arrested him.
