Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.62%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Friday.

Shares of Coforge(up 2.92 per cent), MPhasis(up 0.74 per cent) and L&T Technology(up 0.17 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Infosys(down 1.74 per cent), Mindtree(down 1.01 per cent), Wipro(down 0.76 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(down 0.56 per cent) and HCL Technologies(down 0.45 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.62 per cent down at 28168.15.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 114.2 points at 16719.45, while the BSE Sensex stood up 390.28 points at 56072.23.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 ended in the green, while 17 closed in the red.

Shares of , , , GSFC and were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of NDTV, , , Ltd. and Butterfly Gandhi hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vikas Proppant & Gr, , Ltd., and MIC Electronics hit their fresh 52-week lows.
