Cost-effective and cheaper than the cement plaster, ’vedic plaster’ applied on walls of Kinnar Akhara in Prayagraj is gaining popularity
PRAYAGRAJ: In a first, seers and saints associated with Kinnar akhara have come up with a novel concept of applying ‘Vedic plaster’ at their Ashram’s walls at Indrapuri Colony, New Bairahana in Prayagraj district and promoting it among other akharas and devotees.
After construction of brick walls, a mixture of cow urine, cow dung, lime, jaggery, honey, and gypsum are being applied on the wall in form of plaster. Vedic plaster is an organisation which makes plaster for walls without using the conventional method of components.
Member of UP State Kinnar Board and Mahamandleshwar Kaushalya Nand Giri aka ‘Tina Maa’ told TOI, “ Vedic plaster has its importance and relevance for all the houses, ashrams and buildings as it kills germs and harmful insects.
She added the “Vedic plaster also prevents infection and generates positive energy within the four walls of the building”.
She, however, said: “Since ages, people used to apply cow dung and urine to whitewash their walls and sweep the floors in village and even urban areas after acknowledging its strengths to kill germs and insecticides.
And, now we are following the same tradition to protect ourselves from infection, bacteria, virus and several types of ailments through Vedic plaster”.
Tina, meanwhile, claimed: “The formula for mixing cow dung, gypsum along with other natural ingredients has proved advantageous in terms of vedic plaster. The thermal insulating properties of cow dung plaster have a cooling effect in summers and keep houses warm in winters.
Revealing another useful property of vedic plaster, she said, Vedic plaster acts as an air purifier and releases positive energy in the house. The radiation shielding properties also make it all the more favourable and acceptable for the residents by protecting them from harmful rays.
Moreover, Vedic plaster is cost-effective and cheaper than the cement plaster.
Tina Maa, meanwhile, said: “The concept of vedic plaster is gaining popularity among saint and seer community who are all set to apply it in their respective ashrams ahead of Kumbh 2025.”
Noted religious scholar Dr Amitabh Gour says: “The concept of Vedic plaster is not new. Since ages, people living in rural areas and semi urban areas find it an environment friendly substance that not only creates natural fragrance within the four walls of the house but it is also known for its pollution free, sound proof , fire proof and heat proof advantages”.
He added “people are now returning to vedic plaster due to its advantageous properties”.
