MYSURU: Two youths lifting vehicles to fund a lavish living were nabbed after police zeroed in on them following technical clues. Karthik, 20, and his associate Kiran, 32, both from Mysuru, are crazy about reels and have done various short videos using stolen two-wheelers and are now cooling their heels in jail, police stated.
Kuvempu Nagar police, the duo was active for one and half years and had lifted vehicles in various parts of the city including Kuvempu Nagar and in Ramanagara district.
They had allegedly lifted 14 two–wheelers during the period and had pledged the bikes and scooters to gullible public youths for paltry sums and had also sold them at throwaway prices, police said. The investigation team led by Shanmuga Varma tracked the accused and solved five vehicle theft cases in Kuvempu Nagar police limits, two in Saraswathipuram police stations, three related to Ramanagar, and one each in Ashokapuram, Vijayanagar, Alanahalli, and Nanjangud police limits.
Interestingly, of the 14 stolen bikes, nine were Royal Enfield bikes. The duo targeted only Bullets because they fetched them more money. They used to break the locks of the bikes using physical force, police said.
