Kerala: Assembly adjourned sine die

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The fifth session of the 15th legislative assembly adjourned sine die on Thursday after meeting for 15 days. The session was mainly convened for the detailed discussion and passing of demands for grants for 2022-23.
The session that began on June 27 was originally scheduled to meet for 23 days but was cut down to 15 days for various reasons. Of this, 11 days were dedicated to the demands for grants for various departments, two days for legislation, one day for supplementary demands for grants and one day for dealing with matters of unofficial members.
Speaker M B Rajesh said that as many as 11 notices seeking leave for adjournment motions came up before the assembly. Admission of notices on the gold smuggling case and the attack on the AKG Centre were allowed and discussions were held on each of the issues for more than two hours.
As many as 24 calling attention motions and 120 submissions also came up. As many as 5,990 notices for questions came up before the session, of which 35 were denied for various reasons while 36 were withdrawn by the members.
In all 5,919 questions were admitted, and the ministers have replied to 450 starred and 5,027 unstarred questions in the session itself, while the remaining ones are pending for reply. As many as 929 documents and 78 reports of various assembly committees were placed before the assembly in the fourth session. Two government resolutions regarding the eco-sensitive zones and the need to increase the state share of rations by the Centre in order to make the public distribution system more effective were passed in the session.
