Life derailed as power goes on the blink on rainy Thursday

Ludhiana: Heavy rain early on Thursday caused long power cuts in the city, much to the chagrin of city residents.
Power supply to areas such as Dugri, Rajguru Nagar, Jawahar Camp, Nitish Vihar, Basant Avenue, Phase-1, Phase-2, Phase-3, SBS Nagar and many industrial areas was disrupted since midnight of Wednesday till morning.
Kiran Sood, a resident of Rajguru Nagar complained, “Long power cuts have led to sleep deprivation and no internet connection, which has disrupted the entire routine.”
Charan Singh of SBS Nagar said, “Long power cuts in offices have led to delay in work and meetings.”
Ashish Chopra, a businessman from Janta Nagar said due to power failure, generators operating on diesel were used, jacking up production cost. He urged authorities to check power cuts.
Also trees came crashing down, adding to the inconvenience. Ananya Sharma of Jawahar Camp complained, “Heavy rainfall has led to big trees falling in the area, damaging power lines and causing long power cuts. We could not do household chores and were not able to charge our mobile phones.”
Sushmita Sharma of Himmat Singh Nagar rued, “Long power cuts have led to water shortage in the houses. Since morning, everyone in the neighborhood has been asking for water.”
Varun Gupta who works from home said he had to attend a meeting in the morning but he could not do so as his his laptop and phone had no battery and internet connection.
