Under amendments in IT law, Twitter, Facebook, Google and other social media platforms will necessarily need to take down and/or block content flagged by the government.

Amid reports of a new IT law in the works, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology plans to make amendments that would make it mandatory for Twitter, Facebook, Google and other social media to take down and/or block content flagged by the government.

If these platforms don't abide by the new rules, they will lose protection under intermediary status.
