NOIDA: A 25-year-old man died after getting electrocuted in the Badalpur area of Central Noida on Wednesday night.
The deceased, identified as Anmol Singh, a native of Bulandshahr was living in Badalpur village. His truck allegedly came in contact with a live wire hanging from an electric pole.
“We received a call regarding the incident around 11.30pm on Wednesday following which a team rushed to the spot. The accident happened outside Flying Green Carriers on NH91 under Badalpur police station jurisdiction. Singh, who worked as a driver at the courier company was leaving for Hapur after loading the truck,” said Ravindra Kumar, in charge of Badalpur police station, who further mentioned that the metal grills of the truck were touching a low-lying live wire.
“Singh got electrocuted as soon as he tried to get into the driving seat. The truck’s tyres caught fire due to a short circuit and within minutes it engulfed the truck as well as the driver,” Kumar added.
The company officials took Singh to a hospital where he was declared dead.
Speaking to TOI, Nitish Arora, transport manager at Flying Green Carriers recalled hearing a blast after which they rushed outside.
“We saw Singh and the truck enveloped in fire. By the time we extinguished the fire, Singh had sustained major burns and was electrocuted. We informed the police and took him to a hospital. Singh had been working here for the past four years,” Arora mentioned.
He further alleged that the pole just outside the godown was broken and they had asked the electricity department to repair it.
“We had agreed to pay them money as well. They delayed repairing the poll due to which our driver lost his life. He could have been saved if the electricity department would have acted quickly,” he added.
Meanwhile, despite several calls to the electricity department, all the calls went unanswered.
Police officials said that a post-mortem of the body was done after which it was handed over to his family. However, no complaints have been lodged.
Further investigation is under way.
