Rajkot: A 30-year-old man was kidnapped, thrashed and robbed by seven persons over repayment of Rs 25,000 loan he had taken from one of them.
The victim, Yuvrajsinh Jadeja, drives a rented SUV between Rajkot and Ahmedabad.
Six months ago, Jadeja had taken Rs 25,000 from one of the accused, Mulrajsinh Jadeja, on the condition of paying Rs 200 per day as interest. Yuvrajsinh told police that he had repaid Rs 5,000 till date.
On Tuesday morning, he got a call from Mulrajsinh’s friend Rajbha Fauji who asked about payment. Yuvrajsinh left Rs 200 as the interest amount at a paan kiosk at Greenland Chowkdi and informed Fauji. However, Fauji and other two people reached there and demanded complete payment of Rs 20,000. The victim expressed his inability to pay and said he would return the money next month.
Fauji and others then kidnapped him in his own car and took him to Madhapar Chowkdi where other accused including, Mulrajsinh, Ajaysinh Jadeja and Virubha Jadeja, joined them.
They took Yuvrajsinh to Padadhari and thrashed him on the road and took away his car. They released him late at night near Kalavad Road.
They returned his car after he pleaded with them.
A complaint was lodged at B-division police station.
