Mauvin: 3,530 e-vehicles registered in 26 months

Porvorim: A total of 3,530 electric vehicles have been registered in the state in the last 26 months since April 1, of which 573 are four-wheelers and 2,874-plus are two-wheelers, transport minister Mauvin Godinho said in a written reply on Thursday.
The central government has exempted battery operated vehicles from the payment of fees for issue or renewal of registration certificate and the assignment of new registration mark with effect from August 2, 2021.
After the faster adoption and manufacturing of hybrid and electric vehicles (FAME) scheme was launched by the department of heavy industries, government Goa decided to launch the scheme for promoting of electric vehicles in Goa.
According to the scheme, Convergence Energy Services Ltd (CESL) will club the incentives provided under the FAME II scheme of the central government along with the subsidy proposed to be provided by the state government.
