Kalaburagi: Chairman of Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB) Dattatreya Patil Revoor on Wednesday said that the districts comprising the region would celebrate the platinum jubilee of Indian Independence in a meaningful way. Interacting with members of the press in Kalaburagi, Dattatreya Patil said, “As part of the Kalyana Karnataka Amrutha Mahotsava, earlier called Hyderabad Karnataka Liberation Day, we will organise sporting and cultural events in all the districts. Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai will unveil the emblem for the event soon. He will also be invited to the event.”
Dattatreya Patil pointed out that Independence had come to the region belatedly – 13 months after August 1947. “It was only after the integration of the erstwhile Hyderabad state into India that the region secured freedom. So, we are eager to instil patriotism among the children. Each school in every village will celebrate Independence Day,” he added.
Dattatreya Patil said that funds would be disbursed without delay to all districts seeking them for these events. He said that Kalyana Karnataka would participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign launched by the Centre with much gusto. The campaign will be launched on August 11, and end on August 17. “We are holding talks with the CM, and are eager to integrate this campaign in the Kalyana Karnataka Utsava celebrations,” Dattatreya Patil added.
He added that the foundation stone would laid for the sports and cultural complex proposed on the 60-acre plot at Gulbarga University, on the occasion of the launch of the campaign in Kalaburagi.
