SRINAGAR: Two migrant labourers were injured after a suspected IED, abandoned at a spot where an encounter had earlier taken place, exploded in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.
The labourers — both from Bihar — were engaged in digging the earth in Tahab area when the accident took place, said a senior police officer, adding that investigations were underway to ascertain if the blast occurred because of an unattended shell or any other explosive device “possibly left at the place where an encounter had taken place two to three years ago”.
The injured duo was identified as Muhammad Ishtiaq and Ranjeet Kumar. They were first taken to Tahab PHC from where they were referred to Srinagar’s Barzulla for advanced treatment.
One of the labourers suffered a hand injury while the other was wounded in his foot. Both are out of danger, said the officer.
