Anti-Sikh riots case: 5 more accused arrested

Kanpur: The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is investigating the Kanpur anti-Sikh riots, has arrested five more accused in the Nirala nagar massacre case late Tuesday night.
The SIT has so far arrested 27 people in the anti-Sikh riots.
On 31 October 1984, 127 Sikhs were murdered in the city in the riots following assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. SIT DIG Balendu Bhushan said that the SIT raided hideouts in the City late on Tuesday night. “From here, five men accused of killing three Sikhs in Nirala nagar area have been arrested. They had committed loot and killed three Sikh men- Rakshapal Singh, Bhupendra Singh and Satveer Singh. Late on Tuesday night, the SIT team raided possible hideouts of the accused and arrested them. They have been identified as Shriram alias Baggad (65), Mustakeem (70), Anil Kumar Pandey (61), Abdul Wahid (61) and Irshad (60),” said DIG further.
