Dhanbad: Despite a bail order from the
Jharkhand high court, Arup Chatterjee, the owner of a Ranchi-based private Hindi news channel, could not be released on Wednesday as the police remanded him in another case of embezzlement. He was produced before the court of CJM Sanjay Kumar Singh and was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
His lawyer Shahnawaz Mallick said another bail petition was filed before the court on Wednesday which is likely to be heard on Thursday.

Sanjeev Kumar said, “Arup Chatterjee, who was one of the directors of Care group of companies, was wanted in another case of embezzlement of Rs 9 lakh. Manoj Pandit, a resident of Loyabad, had lodged a case (Putki PS case no 91/18) and charged him of defalcating Rs 9 lakh deposited in his chit-fund company.”
