GNIDA will provide anti-rabies vaccine too
NOIDA: The dog monitoring committee has finalised registration charges of Rs 500 for the pedigree breeds and Rs 100 for indie breeds annually. In return, the Greater Noida authority will provide an anti-rabies vaccine and sterilisation of stray dogs. Moreover, an animal hospital and shelter will be opened in the township.
A six-member committee has been formed to ensure that dog-feeding points are made in residential societies in accordance with the Supreme Court order. The move will curtain a lot of tussle between dog owners and other residents in the group housing societies.
Officials said the decisions have been taken to reduce illegal animal breeding, dog bite cases and man-human conflicts. The date to launch the facility is yet to be announced.
The committee also approved Rs 1,000 for vaccinating and sterilising stray dogs. An NGO has been entrusted with the responsibility to carry out this work.
Yash Raj Bharadwaj, a member of the committee and founder of Sophie Memorial Animal Relief Trust said, “The registration of stray dogs is going on by default under the vaccination and sterilisation programme. So far, 500 stray canines have been vaccinated and their details are uploaded to the system.”
