Kanpur: On the occasion of National Deworming Day, the deworming campaign was launched from the Primary School Lal Bungalow area on Wednesday. Chief medical officer Alok Ranjan administered albendazole tablet to a child.
The CMO said as per the target, around 17.94 children from 1 year-19 years of age group would be administered deworming tablets during the campaign. Those children who could not get medicine due to any reason would be covered under a mopping up round which runs from July 25 to July 27. Teachers, Anganwadi and health workers have been directed to administer the medicine in person, the CMO said.
Representative of Evidence Action Yogendra Pratap Singh stated that a stipulated dose of medicine would be administered to children. Children of 1-2 years would be given half tablets of 400 mg in powder form with water, of 2-3 years one tablet of 400 mg in powder form with water and children of 3-19 years would be asked to chew one tablet of 400 mg and then take water, he said.
An Anganwadi worker Kirti Sachan said that they had been trained to administer this medicine because they had administered it under the Covid protocol.
