This year, the NTA had reopened the application forms for the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) 2022 Session 2 (July 2022). Candidates were given a second opportunity of filling out the application forms for session 2. The application window were open till July 9, and candidates were given time till 11:50 pm of July 9 to submit their application fees online.
In the session 1 results declared a few days back, Guwahati’s Sneha Pareek became the only female candidate to achieve the top rank with a score of 600/600. She now aims to pursue BTech in Computer Science from any branch of IIT. This year, 14 students secured 300/300 or 100 per cent marks in the engineering entrance exam, out of which four students are from Telangana, three from Andhra Pradesh and one student each from Haryana, Punjab, Rajashtan, Assam, Jharkhand, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh.
This year, the JEE main session 2 examination will be conducted July 25 onwards. Session 1 exams were conducted between June 20 and 29, 2022. The result for JEE Main 2022 session 1 was released a few days ago.
Another big change that was brought in this year is the choice of the exam centre. NTA instructed that now while applying, candidates have to select any four cities of their choice in which they would be comfortable appearing for the JEE Main exam. However, the choice of centre cities will be limited to the state of permanent address or state of present address only.
Now, the JEE Main exam will take place in 13 languages: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, Odia, Malayalam, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. However, candidates who chose the regional language were allocated an exam centre in that state itself. English, Urdu and Hindi were available in all centres across the country.
While there is no set age limit for candidates who wish to appear for the JEE Main 2022, it has been declared that the candidates who have cleared their class 12 or equivalent examination in 2020, 2021 or are appearing for it in 2022, can apply for the JEE Main 2022 exam.
However, this does not apply to the institute that the candidate is aiming for, and candidates will have to check the eligibility criteria for participating institutes individually to get admission to that specific college/university. Read in detail here
