Users can now opt to display events on their calendar only if they come from a sender they know. This will allow users to keep their Google Calendar free from spam.
This feature will mean that the users can still get events on calendar from senders who have same company domain, are in user contact list, or someone they have interacted before. But also, users can choose to have all invitations appear on their calendar or one’s they have accepted.
“Additionally, admins can set the default reply option for their users in the Google Admin console. Note that end users can indicate their preference in their own Calendar settings”, Google announced through its blog.
For admins, the default option is to show invitations from everyone, and this can be changed at the domain level. While end users can see and change the default option in the Calendar settings.
This Google Calendar feature will be rolled out starting on July 20, 2022 and will be available to all Google Workspace customers, as well as legacy G Suite Basic and Business customers. It will be also made available to users with personal Google Accounts.
