Loan defaulter fires in the air to scare recovery team

JAMMU: A loan-recovery team of Jammu and Kashmir Grameen Bank on Tuesday was in for a shock on reaching the home of a defaulter, who fired twice in the air to threaten the bank officials. Two of the defaulter’s associates were detained even as the prime accused and two other aides managed to flee.
The defaulter, Mohammad Hussain of Jammu’s Kunjwani area, had borrowed Rs 35,000 and was not returning the loan amount following which the team went to his residence for recovery of dues.
“When the recovery team reached his house, Hussain and four of his associates had a heated argument with the team. Hussain fired in the air to threaten the bank employees and also resorted to stone pelting, which damaged the bank vehicle,” said a police officer.
Cops rushed to the spot and detained two of Hussain’s aides, Parvez Wafa and his brother Shail Wafa, and also recovered a pistol.
