Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.23%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.

Shares of Cipla(up 2.17 per cent), Lupin(up 2.13 per cent), Strides Pharma Science(up 1.68 per cent), Natco Pharma(up 1.01 per cent) and Alembic Pharmaceuticals(up 1.0 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Alkem Laboratories(down 1.56 per cent), Biocon(down 0.91 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.89 per cent), Divis Laboratories(down 0.31 per cent) and Torrent Pharmaceuticals(down 0.1 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.23 per cent up at 12711.5.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 180.3 points at 16520.85, while the BSE Sensex stood up 629.91 points at 55397.53.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 ended in the green, while 14 closed in the red.

Shares of SAIL, ONGC, Vedanta, and were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Paradeep Phosphates Ltd., , Delhivery Ltd., and . hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vikas Proppant & Gr, , Ltd., and hit their fresh 52-week lows.
