RAJKOT: A man who disappeared two years ago after duping around a dozen people of Rs 37.41 lakh in
Gujarat's Rajkot by promising them 100 per cent cashback on furniture, was arrested by Rajkot crime branch on Wednesday.
The mastermind of this scam was his father and he is still evading arrest.
According to police, they have arrested Agam Patva (23) from Jaipur in Rajasthan while his father Pramod is yet to be arrested. Both father and son had opened a furniture showroom named ‘Shophixo lifestyle’ on Pedak road of Rajkot.
They both were native of Kutch and lured customers by giving lucrative offers to make furniture including 100 percent cashback on certain products.
Y B Jadeja, police inspector of crime branch said "They collected the money from the customers as advance, around 11 customers had paid them advance for making new furniture for home and offices."
They both had opened this shop in a rented premise, they both disappeared suddenly without delivering the furniture and paying the rent. A complaint in this regard was registered with B division police station.
The crime branch sleuths got the specific information about Agam’s presence in Jaipur and he was arrested. However, the police have not recoverred the defrauded money so far.
