Porvorim: Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai on Tuesday said that due to various scams, industries do not want to come to the state. “There is a multi-crore scam,” he said.
Industries minister Mauvin Godinho asked Sardesai to clarify that the scams highlighted by him did not take place during his tenure as minister.
He alleged that the state government has lost crores of rupees over industrial land transfer from one company to another. Sardesai said that instead of Goa Industrial Development Corporation charging fees for land transfer, they charged only for change of name. “Somebody should be held accountable for this,” he said.
Sardesai said that the new industry policy does not quantify the number of jobs to be generated in the state. He said that 724 plots are vacant in industrial estates which cover 20 lakh sqm. “Assume one job per 100sqm, that would create 20,000 jobs,” he said.
Sardesai said that the operation of electric buses by Kadamba Transport Corporation is another scam as KTC pays Rs 75 per km as compared to the average of Rs 52 in other states. “In the name of green energy, Goa has been looted,” he said.
