Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) under the general education department has won the Chief Minister’s Award for Innovations in Public Policy.
KITE won the award in the Procedural Intervention category for the year 2019 for its Little KITES IT clubs and First Bell digital classes. The award includes a citation and a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh.
Since 2017, KITE has so far won 15 awards, including 9 national recognitions. Several unique ICT initiatives such as
School Wiki- the largest ICT content repository in a local language in the country, KOOL- the state’s first official online course, e-governance applications for appointment approval and staff fixation software for general education dept, online transfer and posting of teachers, Kalolsavam, are also being undertaken by KITE.
The First Bell digital classes, also considered for the CM’s Awards, was set up by KITE for ensuring continuance of education for students during the Covid-19 restrictions.
