The highest bid was placed by Reliance Jio by depositing Rs 14,000 crore to set up a 5G network, indicating its aggressive approach towards the upcoming auction on 26 July.
On the other hand, Adani Data Network also submitted Rs 100 crore, which possibly is the game plan of the company for picking up limited airwaves in select areas for captive networks.
Bharti Airtel places a bid of Rs 5,500 crore in EMD, which guarantees that it will buy pan-India 5G airwaves easily.
Vodafone Idea has also placed a bid of Rs 2,200 crore surprising all the experts, indicating that it will purchase 5G airwaves. The analysts say that it will buy in a limited amount and in its priority market.
The EMD data released by the Department of Telecommunications, on Monday provides an indicator of the company’s bidding strategy and capacity to purchase spectrum since it gives points to the applicants and then it can target the availability of certain frequencies in specific or all zones.
The EMD ticket sizes will permit the market leader Jio and Airtel to take control of 5G airwaves, which is worth Rs 1,30,000 and Rs 50,000 crore respectively.
