Sanjoy Kumar Dey reports that J'khand is facing an early-season drought due to a 51 percent rain shortage.

According to experts and government officials, Jharkhand is on its way to an early season drought due to a 51% rainfall deficit this monsoon.

They claimed that seeding of paddy is now less than 10% due to monsoon rains missing the state during the prime sowing season.

The Bengaluru Meterological Center predicted a cloudy day in the city and its neighbouring districts. One or two spells of light rain are very likely in Bengaluru today. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 29 and 20 degree Celsius respectively.

After a relatively dry June, the capital city logged 165.1 mm of precipitation against a normal of 126.9 in July so far.  But most of the rains in July came on the first day (117.2 mm). The Safdarjung Observatory recorded 30 mm of rainfall between 8:30 am on Saturday and 8:30 am on Sunday.
