GURUGRAM: To bring transparency in the process, chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday made online 14 arms licence-related services — from issuance of new licence to renewal and change of address. Khattar also inaugurated seven weapons-training centres via video conferencing.
“We have been receiving complaints about corruption. With the new online system, there would be no scope for any irregularities,” said Khattar, adding that the entire process can now be completed in 25 days instead of the earlier 60 days. The arms licence fee has also been fixed at Rs 2,100, of which Rs 1,500 is for training, Rs 500 for an application and Rs 100 for Atal Seva Kentra from where one can make online application.
“Earlier people used to have no clue about the status of their application, now people can track the status of their online application,” said Anil Vij, home minister of Haryana. Applicants will also get an SMS alert about the same.
Arms training centres also have been established at Bhondsi, Sunaria, Panchkula police lines, Haryana Police Academy, Police Training Centre at Madhuban in Karnal, and police lines of Hisar and Narnaul.
