GREATER NOIDA: Two members of a gang who would barge into locked house and flee away with valuable were arrested, officials said on Tuesday. Investigation revealed that the two wanted to live a lavish lifestyle and buy drugs for which they commited such acts.
According to the police, the accused are Gaurav (20), a resident of Gamma -1 area in Greater Noida and native of Sikandrabad and Monu (19), who resides in Sigma 2 area.
“Last month, the two had tried to break inside two shops in Jagatfarm market following which a team was formed to nab the miscreants. We looked at the CCTV footages of the area, however, it was found that the two had their faces covered while commiting the crime,” Rahul Pratap Singh, chowki incharge, Jagatfarm, said.
A case was registered against them under sections 392 (punishment of robbery), 393 (attempt to commit robbery) and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
He further mentioned that their pattern of commiting crime was noted and nearby shops were alerted to inform to police about anyone coming to sell the stolen items.
“The accused had tried selling a stolen hard disk after which the shop owner informed us and the two were nabbed from Rampur roundabout on Tuesday,” Singh said.
Police said that Gaurav has been arrested earlier as well.
“The two were fond of a lavish lifestyle. Gaurav has earlier gone to correction home as well. They used to carry out recce and target shops and locked houses. We are trying to find out about more members of the gang,” the chowki incharge stated. The two were produced before the court and sent to judicial custody.
