HDUDA’s decision on
CA sites slammed
Dharwad: The decision of the Hubballi-Dharwad Urban Development Authority (HDUDA) to take back civic amenity sites given to NGOs which have failed to utilise the sites for the prescribed cause or are being misused has not gone well with some NGOs. Opposing the move, Congress leader Robert Daddapuri urged HDUDA to reverse the decision. He said Covid-19 had badly affected the economic condition of many NGOs due to which they could not carry out their activities. By deciding to take away the sites is like rubbing salt on their wounds, he said. On humanitarian grounds, HDUDA should give the NGOs three years to complete their projects. If the NGOs fail to fulfil the promise, HDUDA can go ahead with its decision, he added.

He lamented that the election system, the country’s administrative style and all sectors of the society are polluted. “Now, polls are based on factors like, caste, muscle, money power and party hoppers. Thus, the election system is at a crossroads,” Kageri said, adding it is a vicious circle. “Moral and ethical values, ideologies are dwindling fast. People are supreme in a democracy, and they should be aware of the value of their vote in selecting a good representative,” Kageri said.
