Municipal School Board Surat principal Nishant Vyas booked for sexual harassment

SURAT: Punagam police on Monday booked principal Nishant Vyas of the Municipal School Board Surat (MSBS) No 300 under section 12 (sexual harassment upon a child) of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Cops acted on a complaint lodged by Hasansa Fakir, an employee of MSBS, based on an inquiry conducted by a committee formed by Surat Municipal Corporation. “The complaint has been lodged based on the findings of the inquiry. Based on further findings we will take actions,” said Banchha Nidhi Pani, municipal commissioner.
In the complaint, Vyas has been accused of allowing harassment of a 14-year-old class VIII boy in his presence. The victim’s clothes were removed and the naked boy is being seen harassed by other people of the school in the video.
According to the FIR, Vyas allowed to shoot the incident on his mobile phone as well. Other boys in the video are seen making fun of the victim boy, states the FIR. “The section has been added as per the findings of the inquiry report. If police get more evidences additional sections will be added,” said R P Solanki, police inspector, Puna police station.
A police officer in Punagam police station told TOI that cops are trying to carry out an in-depth investigation. “The accused will be called for questioning and statements of all the connected persons will be recorded,” he said.
