THIRUVANANTHAPURAM/DELHI: IndiGo airline on Monday put LDF convener E P Jayarajan on its no-fly list for three weeks and two Youth Congress workers for two weeks for a scuffle onboard an aircraft carrying chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on June 13. Both these bans are effective from July 16, 2022, across both the domestic and international flights of IndiGo. It is up to other individual Indian airlines to follow suit.
The CPM leader, irked by the ban, said neither he nor his family would ever travel by the airline. "The airline should have in fact honoured me for saving its reputation. They don't even know who I am. I don’t want their service any more," he said. To prove the point, the much-popular politician took the Veraval Express from the capital to Kannur on Monday afternoon, also a symbolic return to his 'janakiya' roots.
It is for the first time that a politician and/or political workers have been put on a no-fly list by an Indian airline.
