NOIDA: Madame Tussauds will open at the DLF Mall of India on Tuesday, with 50 waxworks on display.
Some of the wax statues that will be on display are of Prime Minister
Narendra Modi, cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev and Virat Kohli; playback singer Asha Bhonsle; actors Shahrukh Khan, Anil Kapoor and Katrina Kaif; and Mahatma Gandhi. For the younger visitors, there would be cartoon characters, such as Motu-Patlu.
The London-origin Madame Tussauds is opening its Noida centre after the one in Delhi’s Connaught Place closed down during the pandemic. Called Madame Tussauds India, the centre covers an area of 16,000 sqft in the entertainment zone on the mall’s fourth floor. It will be open to visitors after 2.30 pm on Tuesday.
“We are all set to throw open the doors from Tuesday. Our weekday timings are from 11.30am to 7.30pm. The tickets are priced at Rs 960 for adults and Rs 760 for kids,” said Ansul Jain, the general manager of Merlin Entertainments India Pvt Ltd.
Jain clarified that Tussauds was not a museum but a “fun attraction”, and he hoped for a high footfall considering the central location of Noida and the access to Agra, Mathura, Meerut, Saharanpur, etc., due to the expressway. He added that they chose the DLF Mall of India because it had ample parking, easy access and no hawker constraints.
