NEW DELHI: Vice president and Rajya Sabha chairman, M
Venkaiah Naidu on Monday said during the last 13 sessions, 57% of the total sittings were disrupted partly or fully. He urged members to ensure better productivity of the Upper House.
Addressing members on the first day of the monsoon session, which is also the last session of Naidu as chairman, he said, "All of you would agree that this could have been better given our mission for the nation. Better late than never. It is time now to be different and better."
Naidu said his journey of five year as chairman has been quite a learning experience. He added dealing with about 245 members from over 30 political parties with different minds, inclinations and political ideologies is quite revealing and a "testing experience". He said if his best efforts were short of your expectations, he would not hesitate to take responsibility for the same.
