NEW DELHI: A 23-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by his friend in the Azadpur area early on Sunday, police said, adding the incident took place when the victim went to meet the accused near Ramlila Ground.
A heated argument ensued between the two and turned violent soon. Later, the victim was shot in the chest, police said
Around 2 am on Sunday, the patrolling team of Adarsh Nagar police station found the man lying near the ground. He was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. During the inquiry, it was found that he had a gunshot injury in the chest, police said.
The deceased was identified as Abhishek, who lived with his family in Shalimar Bagh.
Deputy commissioner of police (northwest) Usha Rangnani said that the two “had a heated argument over some issue”. “His friend got agitated and allegedly shot at the victim in his chest," she added.
A case under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code was registered at Adarsh Nagar police station. Police are examining the witnesses, they said.
Several teams have been formed and raids are being conducted to arrest the accused, they added.
