Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao
HYDERABAD: Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said Sunday the unprecedented floods in his state this monsoon could be a global conspiracy that is triggering cloudbursts in the Godavari catchment area. "Some countries are involved in engineering cloudbursts over parts of India," he said, referring to the extreme weather phenomenon that causes heavy rainfall within a short time in a particular place.
But he also pointed out that it could be a conspiracy theory. "The unprecedented crisis in Telangana could have been sparked by cloudbursts. We don't know how far global conspiracy theories are true, but experts say incessant rain can also be a result of climate change," the CM said after surveying the worst-hit Bhadradri Kothagudem district.
Floods have rendered thousands homeless and damaged property worth crores of rupees in and around Bhadrachalam. He interacted with families in relief camps Sunday.
