According to Variety, the show has had a few speedbumps leading up to its premiere date, which has not yet been shared. This includes Amy Seimetz's exit from her role as director on the project in April.
Production had already filmed multiple episodes at the time of Seimetz's departure, and sources indicated that the show would be reworked to fit a new creative direction.
This is Depp's first TV role, while her co-star The Weeknd makes his official acting debut in the series.
