CHENNAI: The Madras high court on Monday ordered re-postmortem of a Class XII girl who was found dead in a private school in Kallakurichi on July 13.
Justice N Sathish Kumar also directed the Tamil Nadu government to form a special team to probe the incident and to identify and arrest those responsible for the July 17 violence in which the school was ransacked.
The court passed the order on a plea moved by the deceased girl’s father seeking re-postmortem alleging a foul play in the death.
When the plea came up for hearing, Justice Sathish Kumar expressed dismay over the July 17 violence and wondered as to who gave licence to the mob to burn transfer certificates of 4,500 students of the school.
“Police were not under the control of anyone. They should enforce the law. This court will monitor the probe,” the judge said.
He added that the violence did not appear to be a mere provocation but an organised crime.
“Identify all the protesters and recover the loss caused by the violence,” the court said.
Passing interim orders, the court made it clear that in future whenever deaths take place in educational institutions investigation must be done by the CB-CID and postmortem examination must be done by a team of three doctors.
The judge wanted the court to take severe action against those who conduct parallel trials in social media and adjourned the hearing to July 29.
