‘Doctor in Dubai’ cheats his Mumbai lady love of Rs 3 lakh

MUMBAI: A 38-year-old Andheri woman who lost Rs2.6 lakh in a matrimonial fraud has lodged a police complaint against a person who claimed to be a doctor at a Dubai Hospital for allegedly making false promises of marriage and duped her of her savings.
A criminal offence has been registered against the alleged conman, Amudan Manikam, at Andheri police station. He had got in touch with the woman through a matrimonial site in 2020.
The man claimed that he was in financial trouble due to the pandemic and used to seek financial help on the day the woman would receive her salary, said the police.
Later, when asked him to return the money as she hereself was in financial trouble, for being jobless, he did not return the money, says her complaint.
