It is nothing but a human rights violation. Hence the state government will register its protest and also seek action against those who have done this to the students. Such incidents should not happen in future, said the minister.

The incident occurred at an examination at Ayur in Kollam district. The parent of the girl from Sooranadu has now filed a complaint with the rural SP of Kollam and also to Kottarakara DYSP seeking an action against those who had done this to his daughter.

The parent of the student said, ``we had reached the examination centre by 12 noon itself and went for the preliminary checking at the screening area. Then she was subjected for a metal detector screening in which there was a beep sound.’’

The woman who was screening her said that there is a metal substance in the inner ware and hence it will have to be removed if she wants to enter the examination centre. ``When my daughter claimed that there was no such substance in the inner ware, she was subjected to mental harassment. She had to remove it for entering the centre, he said.

The parent alleged that the agency which was organizing the examination had kept two rooms at the examination centre for keeping the dresses of the students. It has not happened to my daughter alone, but many students were asked to remove their inner wears.

However, the authorities of the examination centre; Marthoma Institute of Information Technology, Ayur, have made it clear that they were not responsible for this since the officials of the agency which was conducting the examination was doing all the screening process.

Following the reporting of the incident there were protests from several political organization against the examination centre on Monday.

Meanwhile, the state human rights commission has also intervened in the issue and has sought a report from the rural SP of Kollam.
