BJP seeks votes for presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu from Assam Congress, AIUDF

GUWAHATI: On the eve of the presidential election, a group of BJP MLAs from the Adivasi and tea communities went to the opposition Congress and AIUDF MLAs in Dispur, seeking votes for NDA candidate Droupadi Murmu, reports Kangkan Kalita. They also met All India United Democratic Front chief Badruddin Ajmal, who was miffed with state Congress president Bhupen Borah, but on Sunday announced that his party will vote for Yashwant Sinha. The MLAs from the ruling party — Rupjyoti Kurmi, Krishna Kamal Tanti, Terash Gowala, Rupesh Gowala and minister Sanjay Kishan first stepped into the residence of senior Congressman and leader of the opposition, Debabrata Saikia.
