26 more patients of BA.5 and 13 of BA.2.75 sub-variant of Omicron were detected on Monday, July 18 in Maharashtra, as per the latest report from the B.J. Medical College, Pune and NIV, Pune on Monday.
23 cases are from Mumbai, 13 from Pune while 1 each from Buldhana, Latur and Thane. These samples are from the period 29 June and 4 July 2022. This has taken the tally of BA.4 and BA.5 patients to 158 and that of BA.2.75 patients to 70.
District-wise BA.4 and 5:
Pune -91, Mumbai -51, Thane -5, Nagpur, Palghar - 4 each, Raigad -3
District-wise BA.2.75:
Pune -43, Nagpur -14, Mumbai -5, Akola - 4 and Thane , Yavatmal, Buldhana , Latur - 1 each
Meanwhile, Maharashtra today recorded 1,111 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the number of active cases to 15,162. Besides, zero COVID-19 deaths were reported in the day, keeping the tally to 1,47,991.
