ARA: A 55-year-old woman and her 29-year-old son were found murdered in their house at Raghutola under ward number 34 in Ara town on Sunday morning.
Police said the woman-son duo were probably murdered over a property dispute. The victims were identified as Sumitra Kunwar and her son Ram Awadhesh Rai.
Bhojpur SP Sanjay Kumar Singh, DSP (headquarters) Vinod Kumar and other police officers reached the spot after getting information and started investigation.
The SP said the deceased woman and her son used to live in one part of the house and her stepson in another part.
“Initial investigations revealed that the woman had a property dispute with her stepson,” he added.
The SP said efforts were made by the locals earlier to resolve the dispute through mediation, but to no avail.
“Though the family members are tightlipped about the incident, we are trying to gather information from the neighbours of the woman,” he added.
The woman’s stepson, Ramadhar Rai, on his part, said, “I informed the police soon after finding my stepmother and stepbrother lying in a pool of blood in the morning.”
