Jharkhand: 31 injured in bus-truck collision in Lohardaga

GUMLA: Around 31 persons, mostly bus passengers, sustained injuries in a road accident near Reliance petrol pump on Chandra-Kuru road of the stretch of National Highway-75 under Kuru police station area of Lohardaga on Sunday.
A Chanchal passenger bus was on way to Ranchi from Chandra block headquarters of Latehar district, while a rice-laden truck was coming from the opposition direction.
The officer in-charge of Kuru police station, Abhinav Kumar, quoting eyewitnesses said, “ The bus driver was talking over mobile phone at the time of accident. He managed to escape by jumping out from the vehicle.”
Two seriously injured persons were taken to Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (Rims), Ranchi, while the rest 29 are undergoing treatment at community health centre (CHC) in Kuru.
Police impounded both the vehicles and have started an investigation. Traffic on the national highway stretch was disrupted for around an hour following the incident, he added.
