(Express photo)Mumbai News Highlights (July 18): At least 13 people were killed when a bus carrying over 30 passengers fell into Narmada river near Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh Monday morning, an official said. The bus, belonging to Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), was en-route from Madhya Pradesh’s Indore to neighbouring Nagpur in Maharashtra, when it slipped into the river at around 9:30 am, the MSRTC managing director Shekhar Channe told The Indian Express.
Meanwhile, miffed at the new government which has stopped various sanctions given by the previous government, a delegation of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders met CM Eknath Shinde and DCM Devendra Fadnavis on Monday asking him to not stay developmental projects. Leader of Opposition Ajit Pawar led the delegation of the NCP leaders and former ministers. The new government, formed following the rebellion of Mr Shinde against former CM and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, has been on a spree to stay or modify decisions of the previous government.
In an indication that the trial run of Mumbai Metro line-3 (Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ) — the first underground Metro of the city — will begin soon, the first two cars of a prototype train are all set to be dispatched from Alstom trains manufacturing plant based in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The move is in line with the new Maharashtra government’s decision to overturn the previous Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA regime’s decision to relocate the Metro 3 car shed from Aarey Colony to Kanjurmarg.
