CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu government is in no mood to permit an amusement park, Queens Land Amusement Park, to continue occupying 21.6 acres of public land near the city. It has informed the Madras high court that a proposal made by the park to provide alternative land owned by it in exchange for the public land has been rejected.
Additional advocate-general J Ravindran made the submission on a plea moved by management of the park to consider its proposal.
Recording the submissions, the first bench disposed of the plea moved by Rajam Hotels Pvt Ltd which owns the park.
According to the petitioner, it made a representation to the state government on September 30, 2021 seeking to allot 21.6 acres of government land that is in possession of the park in exchange for alternative lands offered by the petitioner. Since no decision was made on the representation, the petitioner moved the court seeking to direct the state to consider the proposal.
When the plea came up for hearing, AAG submitted that the competent authority has now passed an order dated July 14 rejecting the prayer made in the representation.
To this, the petitioner sought the court to give liberty to challenge the rejection order. Considering the submissions, the bench granted the liberty sought and disposed of the plea.
