Narendra Modi targeted the opposition, saying those who feel they can buy off voters with freebies will “never build new expressways, airports or defence corridors” and offer development to the people. Modi said the the politics of the country should be freed of “revadi culture” where freebies are offered like sweets, reports Faiz Siddiqui.
He said the expressway also marked a departure from the usual thinking that modern modes of conveyance are for big cities. “Yeh Modi hai, Yeh Yogi hai. We are leaving archaic thoughts behind,” he said to a chorus of applause. “Let no one be left behind. The smaller districts of UP shoul also be connected by air, for which work is being done expeditiously."
