Drug racket busted: Three arrested, 15kg ganja seized in Chennai

CHENNAI: The city police have busted a drug cartel by arresting three suspects including a college student and seized 15 kg of ganja (marijuana) from them. The gang members got cash paid through online money portals from their customers including college and school students.
Based on a specific tip, a police team detained a college student Mohan. During questioning, he confessed that he had sourced the consignment along with his associates Senthil and Dilip Kumar. An investigation officer said that the three men collected the money from their customers using online money portals in advance before they delivered the consignment as per their requirements that were specified through their exclusive WhatsApp group.
The trio had been selling ganja after repacking it in small sachets. They confessed to having sold most of their consignments to college students and school students too. The Thoraipakkam police have registered a case and arrested the trio. They were remanded in judicial custody after being produced before the magistrate court in the city.
