Gujarat: Two magicians who looted gold caught

RAJKOT: Two small-time magicians were arrested by Junagadh cops for duping several people of their ornaments by promising to make them talismanic.
The accused Narsinhnath alias Achiya Bhati (26) and Amarnath Padhiyar (29), both natives of Dahegam near Gandhinagar, used to impersonate monks of Ujjain and dupe people.
Junagadh police arrested the two magicians who would flee after the victims handed over their ornaments to them. They admitted to cheating 17 people in eight districts of the state.
Junagadh police started investigation based on a complaint registered by one Arjan Hun with the taluka police on June 13. He stated that on June 8, a man standing outside a car stopped Hun’s bike asking him about some address. Hun saw another man sitting nude inside the car who the other man said was a powerful monk from Ujjain. The nude man too won Hun’s trust and asked him to hand over his gold ornaments to be made talismanic. After Hun gave him his ornaments worth Rs 63,000, the duo suddenly drove away, said HI Bhati, inspector of Junagadh crime branch.
