HUBBALLI: Representatives from the chambers of commerce and industry of each district will come together to share knowledge and boost economic activity across the state and focus on north Karnataka in a conference in Hubballi on Saturday. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will inaugurate the conference in a private hotel.
For the first time, the Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Hubballi, will organise such a state-level conference in collaboration with the Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The conference could be a game changer for economic development in the districts, particularly backward districts of the region.
Vinay Javali, the president of KCCI in Hubballi, said: "Our main focus is to discuss the condition of each district, potential and opportunities to develop industries and attract more investors."
He said many districts today were developing by leaps and bounds with good infrastructure, mainly airport and other facilities. "We will give a thrust to business opportunities in all districts and showcase the potential of north Karnataka to improve industries," he said.
"During our conference, we will discuss the immediate action that needs to be taken in some districts to overcome regional imbalances and to create more infrastructure. Besides, we will discuss at length how to develop the energy renewable sector, food processing sector, export of agri products and other issues."
This apart, industrial experts and officials will share their knowledge of industrial policies, new opportunities for investment in Karnataka, APMC and other issues that can attract investors, Javali added.
"We will compile the problems faced by each district chamber of commerce and industry, such as hike in power tariff, property tax, GST issues and the list of infrastructure available, and submit it to the government seeking support to reach the target to make Karnataka a Rs 1.3-trillion economy," Javali said.
