Karnataka: Belagavi boy dies in wall collapse as no respite from rain

BENGALURU/MYSURU/BELAGAVI: Heavy rain continued to pound many districts of Karnataka on Friday, forcing authorities to declare a holiday for schools and colleges across Belagavi, Chikkamagaluru and Hassan districts. The weather department has forecast heavy to very heavy rain across the state in the next four days.
Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai, during a virtual meeting with deputy commissioners of rain-affected districts on Friday, instructed officials to keep a close watch on water levels in the Krishna river.
A teenager was killed in a house wall collapse as heavy rain continued to batter parts of Belagavi. The 15-year-old boy from Chunchawad village in Khanapur taluk lost his life after the clay wall of his house crashed on him on Thursday night. The rains wreaked havoc in Mysuru, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada districts too.
