HYDERABAD: To deport foreigners, particularly involved in drug trafficking, along with those holed up in the state past their visa date, the Telangana government will set up a detention centre in Vikarabad, 75km off Hyderabad. The decision was taken last week and district officials were directed to establish the centre at the earliest.
Currently, Hyderabad Police’s central crime station doubles up as a temporary detention centre. Officials expect the centre with a capacity to house 40 inmates, would be ready by September-end, enabling cops to intensify efforts to track down illegally residing foreigners.
